Aubrey Plaza explains interesting reason she ‘never wears underwear’ while filming

From method acting to physical transformations, the stars of the screen all have their own ways to prepare for a role. And similarly, many of them have little traditions or superstitions to fulfil when they take on new project.

On the more unconventional side of that, Aubrey Plaza has admitted she ‘never wears underwear’ when filming.

Yep, the Parks and Recreation star has delivered another banger of a ‘fact’ in one of their classic deadpan deliveries.

Known for being a somewhat cynical celeb and hard to read in interviews, Plaza explained the interesting reason why she supposedly goes commando on the job.

During a video with Entertainment Weekly, the My Old Ass actor seemed a little uncomfortable in her chair as she said she was ‘on fire’.

Making a reference to the new film, Plaza said she thinks ‘it’s just my old ass’ before pulling out the classic deadpan with: “Maybe I should’ve worn underwear, but I never do. And then I get f**ked.”

This led the star to go on to advise people to ‘always wear underwear’. You know, in case one day you just happen to think to yourself ‘I dunno, it’d be fun not to’.

Plaza went on to explain her theory: “I feel like acting is all about, you have to have your body in this weird malleable state.

“Never have to pee when you’re doing a scene. Even if you a little bit are like, ‘Maybe I have to pee,’ just get it all out. Just get whatever fluids out. Be like an empty vessel.… If you don’t wear underwear, it can come out faster. So don’t ever wear underwear in life.”

I mean, the fun with Plaza is you can never quite tell if she’s being serious.

Maybe she’s joking about not wearing underwear or maybe she really is just appearing on our screen while going commando.

And she’s certainly been on our screen a lot. Currently starring in the WandaVision spin-off on Disney+, Agatha All Along, as well as Megalopolis having recently landed in cinemas.

The star also appeared in the last season of The White Lotus but for many she’ll always be April Ludgate from Parks and Rec.

While that’s not been on our screens properly since 2015, Plaza did previously tell LADbible Group she’d be in for a reboot if Amy Poehler is. Wonder if she’ll wear underwear if that happened.

With summer coming to an end, you’ll no doubt want to end the season with a bang, which is why we’ve sought out some of the best ways to see out the last week or two of summer with your mates.

So, if you’re looking for somewhere to go other than your local or a fancy bar in town, hopefully our top picks should give you plenty of inspiration.

1. Try out Bongo’s Bingo

Bongo’s Bingo

Operating up and down the country, Bongo’s Bingo is always a fun night out. And they’re running some Country Specials to close out summer this year. So, grab your cowboy hat and get ready for dance offs, cheesy singalongs, a rave, as well as the usual hilarity that the bingo games entail.

NQ64

Arcade bars are still all the rage, with lots all over the UK and it’s a great way to spend a night out. Why not challenge your pals to a game of Mortal Kombat or Guitar Hero or simply while away the hours trying to make it onto the arcade’s leaderboards. And unlike your typical arcade, you can keep the alcohol flowing all night long.

3. Take part in an escape room like no other

AIM Escape

If you happen to be in London, we’ve found an escape room like no other and it’s a great one to do in the run up to Halloween. This 18+ game is one of the most difficult and according to the website “Can your team survive a stay at the horror hotel? Check out is in an hour, if you stay longer you stay forever…” We’d certainly be up for giving it a go.

4. Have a laugh at a comedy club

There are plenty of comedy nights to give you and the lads a laugh, with up and coming and big name comedians taking to smaller stages to test out their material. So, if you find yourself watching reruns of Live At The Apollo or Mock The Week, we would definitely recommend seeing who is performing in the nearest city or town to you.

5. Visit Flight Club

Flight Club Darts

If you’re after a bit of a slower pace, particularly if you have work the next morning, why not challenge one another to a game of darts? Flight Club has a number of venues up and down the UK and each oche area can hold up to 12 players. Plus, you can get food – including pizzas, fries and sharing plates – as well as drinks delivered straight to you.

6. Plan a pub crawl

There are now a number of companies who plan out the best pub or bar crawls, allowing you to drink your way around your city. Alternatively, you could plan your own. And if you happen to live in or near a big city like London or Glasgow, why not try stopping off at each subway station and heading to the nearest pub or bar. You never know, you might find a new local or place to gather with the lads.

Which of these nights out would you most want to head to with your mates?

Uma Thurman explained Quentin Tarantino's 'dildo punishment' he would use on people while on set

Uma Thurman explained Quentin Tarantino’s ‘dildo punishment’ he would use on people while on set

The director had a unique way of punishing people who fell asleep on his movie sets

Should you ever find yourself on the set of a Quentin Tarantino movie, then you’re best advised to not fall asleep.

For one, you’ll be missing out on the chance to see one of Hollywood’s highest regarded directors do his thing, and since his suggested final film got scrapped, you’d be seeing whatever replaces it.

However, there’s another reason you’d not want to doze off and that’s because if you do you might be introduced to a tool Uma Thurman once spoke of.

While she was promoting Kill Bill vol 1 in 2003, Thurman went on The Conan O’Brien Show and explained what happens to those who can’t stop snoring on set.

Apparently he would go and fetch a rather large dildo and made sure the dozing individual had their picture taken alongside it as they slept.

“He had a weapon of choice, there was a large dildo. This large dildo, and we’re talking something like this,” Thurman said as she indicated towards her forearm to provide some scale to this plastic penis of epic proportions.

“I don’t know who this is made for, some kind of elephant rapist would use this thing. This elephant rapist tool, or elephant inseminator, whatever it was.

“Whenever snores would be found in various corners of the set, would be brought out like Jaws and then would be presented at some ungodly, horrific angle next to the face of the offending sleeper.”

So there you have it folks, anyone who had the temerity to doze off on Tarantino’s set would soon end up having the gargantuan genital replica put near them, and Thurman said that wasn’t all.

She continued: “There would be photographs, photographs would be taken, and as the photographs were taken there was a wall of shame that started to be built.

“I attempted to kidnap this wall on several occasions and I believe the board it was on went missing and was then retrieved by the grip department or something.

“Then it was kept under lock and key. I can’t remember what actors got photographed with the elephant inseminator.

“I do remember that at one point during a scene we heard snoring and found it was Bill, our first AD. I think he got hit up with. Big Ben I think they called it.”

O’Brien said she was ‘so lovely and talented I don’t know how I got you down this road’.

Thurman isn’t the only one who has told this story either, as Tarantino mainstay Tim Roth said the dildo was called ‘Big Jerry’ and you’d get in even more trouble if you tried to take your photo down.

Roth told Jimmy Kimmel that anyone trying to take their dildo photo down would see it replaced with a larger image, and said that on the set of Django Unchained apparently things reached such a point that the crew started wearing t-shirts with the image on.

American actress regrets filming 'uncomfortable' sex scene for very specific reason

American actress regrets filming ‘uncomfortable’ sex scene for very specific reason

This actress was left mortified watching her romp on the big screen

Sex scenes in films can be an extremely awkward experience.

If you’re watching a film with your parents and an unexpected romp comes on, it’s bound to get more than a little uncomfortable.

But sex scenes can also been tricky for the actors engaging in them too.

Watching sex scenes can be awkward, but imagine filiming them.

Some actors have outright refused to do them, such as Julia Roberts who asked for a love scene to be toned down in the 2009 flick Duplicity.

The Pretty Woman star reportedly said that the steamy material was ‘not really her kind of thing’.

But some actors have agreed to film in the buff and since regretted taking part.

Among their ranks is Juliette Danielle, who is best known for appearing in The Room.

If you’re not familiar with the movie, here’s a quick summary.

Released in 2003, The Room has since gained infamy as the ‘worst film ever made’ thanks to its awful script and laughable acting.

The stars have generally embraced the film‘s cult classic status, but Danielle has regrets about one specific scene.

Speaking in a Reddit AMA [Ask Me Anything], she revealed that watching the sex scene left her feeling ‘mortified’.

A particular source of regret was the fact that a rose petal had become stuck to her back during the on-screen romp.

When watched back, it looked as if though she had a scab.

Not very sexy.

Talking of how director Tommy Wiseau – who also appeared as the main character – worked the sex scenes, Danielle said: “[Shooting the sex scenes] was uncomfortable but pretty standard.

“The only difference is that Tommy used ALL the footage … rather than whittling it down to a short sequence like most do.”

Given that the film has earned a certain degree of infamy, you might expect that she regrets the whole experience.

It's not all bad though as the film led the actress to getting other job offers.

But that’s not the case – Danielle said the flick led to her getting other opportunities and she’s made her peace with being ‘Lisa from The Room’.

However, baring all still remains a regret for her: “I did regret making it only because of the nudity thing.”

Since the film’s release twenty years ago, Danielle has kept in touch with fans of the film and attended screenings and fan conventions.

In 2017, she returned to acting in the films Dead Kansas, Ghost Shark 2: Urban Jaws and Till Morning.

The Room, despite being a box office bomb, has inspired books, films and even a video game.

Not bad for the ‘worst film of all time’, I guess.

Director 'instructed Aubrey Plaza to really masturbate' in a movie

The actor didn’t realise what she was letting herself in for when she went on set

If you want to be a top actor, you’ve got to be willing to embarrass yourself in front of millions of people.

And while Aubrey Plaza was more than willing to do just that, even she was surprised how far the director wanted her to go:

Back in 2013, Plaza starred in a film called The To-Do List, where she played Brandy Klark, a nerdy teen set to go to college.

Sexually inexperienced, her character compiles a list of bases to check off before she heads to university.

During one scene in the film, she gets to know herself a bit more intimately.

Now for any actor, this could potentially be a pretty mortifying act to have to simulate, especially in a room full of strangers.

And when asked about her preparation for the scene, during an interview with Conan O’Brien, Plaza admitted that she thought it would be just that, a simulation.

“In my head, I envisioned a nice scene where you see my hand slowly go out of frame,” the 38-year-old said.

Aubrey Plaza says she was told to masturbate during scene.

“That’s what I thought I was going into, but then when I showed up, the camera was mounted on the ceiling, I was in my underwear and a Clinton t-shirt, and there were a bunch of old men smoking, ya know, the crew guys. And then I went and touched myself.”

After later clarifying that the men weren’t actually smoking, Plaza said that she even approached the film’s director, Maggie Carey, about the scene.

“I thought I was doing one thing and then when I showed up, it was a whole different thing, it was a full body shot,” Plaza recalled.

“And I asked the director, ‘What should I do?’ And she said, ‘Masturbate, like it says in the script’.”

Plaza also spoke to Oregon Live about the infamous scene, admitting that she was anxious about it.

“Looking back on it, I feel like the masturbating scene was a little bit the most nerve-racking,” she said.

“Just because in my head I thought, ‘Oh, we’ll probably shoot this in a way where I don’t really have to really do it’.

“But then when we did it and I was like, ‘Oh no, we’re going to shoot it where I do it’.”

At least it’s a good story to tell the grandkids, right?

LADbible has contacted Maggie Carey’s representatives for comment.
