Millie Bobby Brown ‘agreed to marry’ Stranger Things co-star before wedding to Jake Bongiovi

Millie Bobby Brown ‘agreed to marry’ one of her Stranger Things co-stars before her wedding to Jake Bongiovi.

The 20-year-old married the son of the legendary Jon Bon Jovi earlier this year and let’s face it, it made a lot of us feel pretty old.

Brown burst onto our screens as Eleven in the hit Netflix series a whole eight years ago now, and we’re finally set to get the fifth (and final) season in 2025.

Having practically grown up together, it’s fair to say plenty of the Stranger Things cast have formed strong bonds and friendships.

So close that, at one point, Brown vowed to marry Noah Schnapp (who turns 20 tomorrow, 3 October) if they were both still single when they turned 40.

Yep, if Brown hadn’t married Bongiovi, she might have been on track to wed the Will Byers actor.

In a 2022 interview, the Enola Holmes star told MTV News: “We said if we’re not married by 40, we’ll get married together because we’d be good roomies.

“Completely platonically, we would still be really good roomies.”

But she did go on to point out a few important conditions for their marriage pact.

“No kids, though, because I could not deal with a child of yours, yeah, that’s my dealbreaker too. Yeah, no kids at all,” the pair agreed

“Only dogs, and separate bedrooms, for sure, my God, you’re so messy.”

I mean, it sounds like her marriage to Bongiovi has probably turned out to be a better deal anyway.

But the pair did go on to open up about their close friendship at the time.

“We have built such a friendship together,” Brown said.

“And you’re also one of the longest friends I’ve ever had. I don’t know if you knew that, but like, I didn’t grow up in school, so I didn’t have any friends from my childhood. So you are really one of those people for me.”

And Schnapp agreed as he said their friendship helped with their ‘chemistry’ on screen as it all made going into work ‘so much easier’.

“I just love being at work and stuff, and I think when you love it and you’re having fun you could do such a better job,” he added.

“We both encourage each other and cheer each other on when we’re doing well. It’s nice to have that support.”

Brown also added that he’d always been her ‘biggest supporter’ and how important it is to have ‘boys who support girls’.

Six incredible ways to see in autumn with your mates

Six incredible ways to see in autumn with your mates

These are the best alternative nights out that we could find!

Ellis Cochrane

With summer coming to an end, you’ll no doubt want to end the season with a bang, which is why we’ve sought out some of the best ways to see out the last week or two of summer with your mates.

So, if you’re looking for somewhere to go other than your local or a fancy bar in town, hopefully our top picks should give you plenty of inspiration.

1. Try out Bongo’s Bingo

Bongo’s Bingo

Operating up and down the country, Bongo’s Bingo is always a fun night out. And they’re running some Country Specials to close out summer this year. So, grab your cowboy hat and get ready for dance offs, cheesy singalongs, a rave, as well as the usual hilarity that the bingo games entail.

2. Hit up an arcade bar

NQ64

Arcade bars are still all the rage, with lots all over the UK and it’s a great way to spend a night out. Why not challenge your pals to a game of Mortal Kombat or Guitar Hero or simply while away the hours trying to make it onto the arcade’s leaderboards. And unlike your typical arcade, you can keep the alcohol flowing all night long.

3. Take part in an escape room like no other

AIM Escape

If you happen to be in London, we’ve found an escape room like no other and it’s a great one to do in the run up to Halloween. This 18+ game is one of the most difficult and according to the website “Can your team survive a stay at the horror hotel? Check out is in an hour, if you stay longer you stay forever…” We’d certainly be up for giving it a go.

4. Have a laugh at a comedy club

There are plenty of comedy nights to give you and the lads a laugh, with up and coming and big name comedians taking to smaller stages to test out their material. So, if you find yourself watching reruns of Live At The Apollo or Mock The Week, we would definitely recommend seeing who is performing in the nearest city or town to you.

5. Visit Flight Club

Flight Club Darts

If you’re after a bit of a slower pace, particularly if you have work the next morning, why not challenge one another to a game of darts? Flight Club has a number of venues up and down the UK and each oche area can hold up to 12 players. Plus, you can get food – including pizzas, fries and sharing plates – as well as drinks delivered straight to you.

6. Plan a pub crawl

There are now a number of companies who plan out the best pub or bar crawls, allowing you to drink your way around your city. Alternatively, you could plan your own. And if you happen to live in or near a big city like London or Glasgow, why not try stopping off at each subway station and heading to the nearest pub or bar. You never know, you might find a new local or place to gather with the lads.

Which of these nights out would you most want to head to with your mates?

Jonathan Ross show viewers think Millie Bobby Brown slipped up and revealed character’s fate in Stranger Things finale

There’s still a way to go until the new season will be here

It’s been nearly eight whole years since Stranger Things began.

Way back in 2016, when the show first landed on Netflix, the world was truly introduced to Millie Bobby Brown.

The star began playing Eleven when she was just 12-years-old and now, as filming for season five is finally underway, she’s 20.

Stranger Things season four premiered back in 2022 and it looks like we’ve got quite a wait for the next episodes – set to be the final – as Brown confirmed on Capital Radio this week.

And last night, the actor appeared on The Jonathan Ross Show alongside the likes of top lad Luke Littler, Brits winner Raye, comedian Rob Beckett, Liam Gallagher and John Squire.

She confessed that she hadn’t yet read the final few scripts but she does already know what happens to Eleven.

And some viewers reckon she might have slipped up despite having to swear secrecy on the character’s fate and the show’s plot.

One user wrote on X: “When Millie Bobby Brown said “I know how she, er, I know what happens to my character” about the Stranger Things final series ending, I bet the Netflix bosses were like nooooooooo!!!!”

And another highlighted Brown’s choice of words: “Millie Bobby Brown – ‘I know how my character,… like what happens to my character.’ On Jonathan Ross.

“‘How’ means dead.”

I mean, take from that what you will, but Brown seemed to have a little brief moment of panic as she tried to correct her wording.

Brown appeared on the ITV show last night.

Hey, she could have meant ‘how things turn out’ rather than ‘how she dies’…

The ending of Stranger Things is kept under tight wraps by Netflix but the stars on the show weren’t holding back in pushing her to reveal all.

But Brown insisted she ‘loves Netflix’ and ‘loves her job’ and ‘wants to be employed by them’ so she wasn’t going to give them any spoilers.

Earlier this week on Capital FM, the star revealed how she found out what would happen to Eleven.

“Well I haven’t read the end, I know what happens to my character because I kind of forced myself into the writers’ room,” she admitted.

“I messaged the directors and said ‘Can I come over and have a meeting with you’ and then I came over and there was a whiteboard.”

So it seems like the cast are being kept almost as in the dark as us.

Brown added: “I saw my ending and thought, ‘Oh’, and then I walked away very slowly.”

Millie Bobby Brown addresses backlash after being accused of 'changing her accent'

Millie Bobby Brown addresses backlash after being accused of ‘changing her accent’

The actor is British but ‘grew up in America’

Millie Bobby Brown has addressed backlash after being accused of ‘changing her accent’.

The 20-year-old has been doing a lot of promo recently, with her latest film Damsel dropping on Netflix earlier this week.

But as fans have been listening to her chat about the movie – as well as her engagement and the final Stranger Things season – they’ve been a little distracted by her voice.

Earlier in the month, Brown appeared on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and was explaining how Jake Bongiovi proposed to her (underwater if you’re wondering).

But instead of cooing over her romantic engagement, viewers were too busy taking to social media to question why the actor’s typically prominent British accent now seemed to have an American twang on it.

Millie Bobby Brown responded to the obsession with her accent.

Users wrote on X: “Since when did Millie Bobby Brown lose her British accent… HELLO??”

Brown was born to British parents in Marbella, Spain and lived in England for many years before moving to the US when she was eight.

And after the odd TV role here and there, she really broke onto the scene as Eleven in Stranger Things back in 2016 when she was just 12.

Well known for that and for having a pretty British accent, it seems viewers were struggling to get to grips with her having an American twang.

And Brown has now addressed the backlash in an interview with TikTok star Max Balegde.

Explaining how she ‘grew up in America’ she said: “I come to set, I’m an actor and I adapt and so I want to mimic people!”

The Enola Holmes star continued: “I can’t help that when I’m around my fiancé, or when I’m around people like Jimmy Fallon, who have a very American accent, I wanna replicate it! And now I’m in England I want to replicate that.

“I don’t do it intentionally and I’m sorry if it offends you! But listen, I’m trying my best! I’m trying my best!”

And TikTok users praised her in the comments as they say it’s ‘actually normal’.

Another explained it’s ‘code switching’ and one put: “You speak how you want Millie!”

Brown’s most recent TV appearance definitely had fans talking too, as they reckon she ‘slipped up’ on The Jonathan Ross Show.

The actor was discussing the final season of Stranger Things when she admitted she know’s Eleven’s fate despite not reading the last scripts.

The cast are wrapped up in secrecy but viewers think Brown made a messy choice of words.

They wrote on X: “When Millie Bobby Brown said “I know how she, er, I know what happens to my character” about the Stranger Things final series ending, I bet the Netflix bosses were like nooooooooo!!!!”

People can’t get over Millie Bobby Brown ‘struggling’ between British and American accents

There’s a reason why Millie Bobby Brown sounds like that

Simon Fearn

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown was trying to promote underwear from her fashion brand in a new video, but instead had fans asking: what exactly is going on with her accent?

Millie, who’s been playing Eleven for a decade now, has gone on to star in a bunch of hit films including Enola Holmes, Damsel and the Godzilla franchise – and has also found time to launch fashion brand and beauty brand Florence by Mills.

The 20-year-old actor took to Instagram last week to share some new products, but while Millie wanted the attention to be on her seamless thong, baby tee and bodysuit, fans were more concerned with how her accent seemed to be leapfrogging across the Atlantic with every phrase.

You can see for yourself how Millie seems to go from sounding very British, before immediately going for more of a West Coast drawl, in the video below:

This didn’t go unnoticed by fans, with one writing: “Millie Bobby Brown struggling between her British & American accent.”

Another quipped: “Just pick one and stick with it it can’t be that hard.”

A third accused her of trying ‘so hard to sound British’, but Millie actually is British… but also spent a lot of her childhood in America too.

She was actually born in Marbella in Spain to British parents, Robert and Kelly Brown.

They moved back to the UK when Millie was four, then when Millie was eight the family moved to Florida, where the Browns set up a teeth whitening business.

Then, in order to support Millie’s burgeoning acting career, the family moved to Hollywood, but Millie struggled to nab anything beyond small TV parts.

The family eventually moved back to England and Millie was about to throw in the towel, when she landed Stranger Things.

Starting to understand why her accent is a bit all over the place now?

It turns out Millie is very aware of her wandering accent.

She told TikToker Max Balegde: “I grew up in the public eye. I grew up in America. I come to set and I’m an actor and I adapt, and so I want to mimic other people!

“I can’t help that when I’m around my fiancé, or when I’m with people like Jimmy Fallon who have a very American accent, I wanna replicate it!

“And now I’m in England, I wanna replicate that [accent]! I don’t do it intentional, and I’m sorry if it offends you, OK? But listen, I’m trying my best! I’m trying my best.”

Millie’s upcoming projects include Enola Holmes 3 (in which she’ll have a British accent) and – eventually – Stranger Things season five, in which she’ll have an American twang.

Is it any wonder she ends up speaking with a mixture of both in her downtime?
